Applied Behavior Analysis

The Emerald Learning School uses the methodologies of Applied Behavior Analysis as a treatment methods for individuals with needs in the educational setting.

Applied Behavior Analysis

Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is the process of using behavioral principles to increase desirable behavior (e.g., on-task behavior, social interactions), to teach new skills (e.g., communication, self-help skills),and to decrease behavior that is disruptive to learning (e.g.,perseverative behavior, aggression, self-injurious behavior). Tested by research and experience for more than 35 years, ABA practices have been endorsed by the Surgeon General, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Association for Science in Autism Research. Findings of hundreds of other studies that indicate ABA is the most effective method to teach children and adolescents with autism, pervasive developmental disorder (PDD), and other developmental disabilities, as well as brain injury and other traumas.

Through careful data collection and evaluation, ABA produces measurable and lasting improvements in the lives of individuals that we and others serve.
